A trusted friend would not judge you and shower you with false positivity, this person would understand that there are days when you are relapsing or simply too stuck to get back on track. Having a buddy to do things with, even if it is not jogging or exercising, helps. Say, for example, you are struggling with a poor diet regimen because you have no time to go out, buy food, and prepare your meals. Then having friends you can do grocery with would break that unhealthy cycle.
You can find time to shop for food, and in the process, you would already be coming out of your tired shell slowly. Even if you struggle at first, you would realize that the bad habit of not being physically active and eating junk has changed. Suddenly, you are used to jogging, and eventually, you would be able to do this alone.
Book Healthcare and Wellness Appointments
So you have been neglecting yourself even to the point of forgetting your hygiene. While it is easy for others to judge this, they do not know that this condition is usually a sign of depression. It is not mere laziness, it is simply because the person in this situation, is starting to care less and less for herself. If this is you, it is okay to be frustrated by the seemingly bad habitual cycle. However, you would not be able to break this on your own. You need to commit, and you need a little nudge from your doctors too.
So despite your exhaustion, book your usual but forgotten wellness appointments. Go see your dentist, get a facial with your dermatologist, you can even book a therapeutic massage. Now, we know that these things would help you with your physical health, but that is not only what it is about. See, by booking your appointments and paying beforehand, you are obliged to follow through with it.
Your mind would think that you have to even if you do not feel like it, and you cannot call a rain check the way you do with your friends in Zoom. So, against your cloudy judgment, visit wellness websites, and book the services you would want without too much thought. You would thank yourself later on.
Ask for a Change of Task at Work
Being down in the dumps while at work, and still managing to push through is one of the hardest things an adult can do. It is a sad reality, but it is admirable and noble.
Let us say, you love your work and you cannot ask for a better team, and it is not even the feeling of burnt out, it is just that moment in life when you are not at your best self. So, what do you about it? You cannot afford to start hating the job because you are overwhelmed and sleep-deprived. You cannot also file a two-week leave, because that would only mean more backlogs and missed opportunities. What you can do instead is ask for a breath of fresh air; ask for a change.
For example, you have been working on the payroll needs for the past five years, and now you just need to breathe, but you do not want to quit. It might be ambiguous to some, but you can ask your supervisor to give you need tasks. Something that would interest you again, or something that would challenge your brain again. This way, you would have something new to look forward to in the morning.
